The Aggie First Year Experience team is dedicated to providing support, resources, and programming to help you succeed during your first year at UC Davis. Our goal is to ease the academic transition into and through the university by providing skills, strategies, and convenient and timely services to help you get ahead of your academic needs.
We focus on four main areas to empower you to be actively engaged in your academic success and career preparation for work in a global society.
- University Success
- Career Development
- Academic Development
- Community Engagement and Responsibility
The First Year Experience team knows every student only has one first year as an Aggie. We strive to help all students:
- Feel a sense of belonging
- Develops a growth mindset
- Identifies their strengths and what they bring to UC Davis
- Find the people and resources for support inside and outside of the classroom
Our work is guided by the following practices:
- Intentionality – we use current assessment, research and best practices to make decisions.
- Collaboration – We develop collaborative relationships with the four Colleges, the Career Center and other campus partners.
- Access and Inclusion – We understand that all students have unique stories and experiences, and do not all come to UC Davis with the same “toolbox,” therefore we design learning opportunities to meet individual student needs.
