The second part of your Orientation experience!
Aggie Advising is a two-part process that will provide you the academic advising support you need to prepare for schedule planning and course registration in your first quarter. By completing Aggie Advising, you will be able to:
- complete your individualized academic course planning checklist
- complete your course registration in accordance with assigned timing (i.e., beginning with Pass 1)
You will learn how to plan an appropriate schedule, step by step. Additionally, you will have an opportunity to hear from current students on how to effectively use Schedule Builder and work with a UC Davis advisor to address questions about preparing for your first quarter. Some departments, such as the University Honors Program, the Educational Opportunity Program, or Athletics, may require additional advising. It is critical to actively check your UC Davis email account for specific information about advising.
Part A: Complete Your Aggie Advising Canvas Course
You must complete Aggie 101 in order to move on to Aggie Advising. Aggie Advising will begin with an invitation to your Aggie Advising Canvas course in May for first-year students, and June for transfers. Check out our Dates and Deadlines page for the exact launch dates.
You will receive an invitation to your UC Davis email, or you can navigate directly to the Canvas website where you will log in with your Kerberos ID.
If you do not receive an invitation to your Canvas page, accidentally decline the invitation, or need help scheduling an advising appointment, please contact your College directly.

Part B: Attend A "Preparing for Pass 1" Webinar
The next step in your Aggie Advising process is to attend a “Preparing for Pass 1” webinar. These webinars are mandatory and are designed around your college and student type (first-year or transfer).
Webinar registration directions will be sent to your UC Davis email. In the email, you will see multiple dates/times for this webinar. You only need to attend ONE session. Make sure choose the correct college and RSVP once you receive that email, as seats will fill up quickly.
This webinar will be hosted by current students and will demonstrate how to effectively use Schedule Builder, the online tool that you will use to register for courses here at UC Davis. A panel of students will share insights in building a balanced schedule and maximizing your time outside of classes.
All webinar times are in Pacific Times unless otherwise noted.

Understanding Your Course Registration Pass 1 Time
Your Aggie Advising experience will provide you with the knowledge necessary to understand and prepare for the course registration process.
All new students will receive a Pass 1 appointment (course registration time) from the Office of the University Registrar. For a look at when your course registration week will be, visit the Registration Calendar. Your specific appointment can be viewed in Schedule Builder. More information about pass times and course registration can be found by viewing Aggie 101.
Registration Support
During course registration, advisors in your College will be available to support you if you have questions during your pass time. More information will be shared by your individual College through email and the “Preparing for Pass 1” webinar.
The learning doesn’t stop there! Check out our optional Aggie Resource Webinars to connect with campus resources before fall quarter.
