Join the Sustainable Aggie connection to build relationships with campus sustainability experts, learn tips and tricks to navigate campus life sustainably, and get a behind the scenes look at sustainability opportunities on campus.

Together, we’ll explore both social and environmental dimensions of sustainability and participate in hands-on activities, discussions, and behind-the-scenes tours. You’ll connect with student and professional staff who love sustainability as much as you do and get the inside scoop on ways to get involved in exciting sustainability opportunities. Join us each week and become a part of the team that creates a more sustainable UC Davis!

Meet your facilitators for "Sustainable Aggies"
Carla Fresquez, Ph.D. she/her is the Sustainability Engagement Program Manager at UC Davis Sustainability. She leads programs like the Climate Action Fellows, TGIF, and Green Workplace, helping the campus turn sustainability goals into everyday action, and co-chairs a UC systemwide working group on sustainable research labs. Carla studied Ecology and Evolutionary Biology at UC Santa Cruz and led ecology research trips to Costa Rica — so she's as comfortable in a rainforest as in a committee meeting. Outside of work, Carla's growing two things at once: a vegetable garden and a fiercely independent four-year-old — both require constant attention and neither goes according to plan.
Samuel Orellana, He/Him, Sustainability Specialist for Student Housing and Dining Services. Samuel leads the sustainability efforts in Student Housing and Dining Services while coordinating engagement initiatives like sustainability tabling, sustainability events, and residential gardens, meant to get first-year students living in the Residence Halls familiar with sustainability. Samuel graduated from UC Davis with a Sustainable Environmental Design major where he discovered his passion for sustainability. Outside the office, Samuel loves spending time outdoors, camping, hiking, and taking pictures of the beautiful landscapes across the state.
Judi Eppele, She/Her, student UC Bonnie Reiss Climate Action Engagement Fellow with UC Davis Sustainability. Judi is a proud double Aggie, having come to UCD for her B.S. in Environmental Science and Management and is now pursuing a M.S. in Community Development--focusing on environmental education and global sustainability. She is also returning for her second year as a fellow with UC Davis Sustainability, and is very excited to continue engaging the campus community through sustainability opportunities such as with the Sustainable Aggies FYAC course. During her (rare) free time, Judi loves to paint, bake, and host game nights with her friends!
