Aggie 101, Aggie Advising, and Aggie Orientation are designed to give you the most successful start to your career at UC Davis. As such, all three parts are mandatory for all students. During on campus Aggie Orientation, actively participating in all aspects of your group’s schedule is expected and will give you the most out of your Orientation experience. Orientation meals are provided for all students. The Orientation meals of residential students are already included in their residential meal plan cost. If you are not sure whether you have a residential meal plan, review your contract with Student Housing & Dining Services.
What does the fee cover?
Orientation is a self-supporting program, the Orientation fee covers costs including but not limited to:
- Employment of student staff who serve as program managers and orientation leaders trained to support their peers and create personalized experiences.
- Engagement of world-renowned faculty dedicated to your academic success and staff who support Orientation programming.
- Materials, merchandise, and facilities for Aggie Orientation programs and activities.
- Support of the Aggie 101 platform.
There is no grant application process; it is automatically awarded by the Financial Aid office. Check your UC Davis email account or contact the Financial Aid office for more information about how grants are dispersed.
Adjustments
There are rare circumstances in which you may be exempt from the entire Aggie Orientation program. Students must fill out the Aggie Orientation Exemption Request Form for consideration. Those exempt from Aggie Orientation will receive a full reversal of their Orientation fee. This applies to the on-campus program, Aggie Orientation, portion only. All students must complete Aggie 101 and Aggie Advising.
Deadlines to complete Aggie Orientation Exemption Request Form:

Examples of potentially warranted exemptions include, but are not limited to:
- Serious Illness
- Family Emergency or Death
- Active Military Duty
If you have personal commitments or scheduling conflicts with the Aggie Orientation program, you can communicate them to your Orientation Leader during your first meeting at Aggie Orientation. They will be happy to work with you to share what you will miss, and how to make up vital information.
